Literature Text

my foot pedals frustration
through a hot-wired circuit;
you tampered with the gears,
and the brakes,
they just won't stop.

biting my lip
I run every red light;
powered by this restlessness
you filled me up :
now, ' go. '

sharper turns than ever,
I ignore the signs
imploring me to slow down:
it's a rush
I can't ignore.

hasty and careless,
I plow down orange cones
seeking some fulfillment
( or a head-on
collision )

it's riddled with potholes
and turn-offs I reject ;
this road has my head
locked in auto-pilot while

your heart rides shotgun
to my disaster.
ummm...yes.

tell me what you think please? :aww: or suggestions on how to make the metaphor stronger?

I think this is actually a fairly humorous and clever metaphor. I'm not certain that it's never been done before, but I do know I've never come across it, certainly not in such depth.
Not content merely with the statement, "my love is like a runaway car," or something similarly simple, you've gone into detail about just how it is like a runaway car, and the road it is on: fast, exhilarating, perhaps, and dangerous.
I believe you could clean it up a little but... there are a few odds and ends that jarred me, somewhat, such as "I ignore the signs/imploring me to slow down/when this rush I can't ignore." Perhaps "but this rush, I can't ignore" would flow better, but that may just be me.
Similarly--and again, this may be just me--I prefer more punctuation... unpunctuated poetry tends to throw me, leaving me unsure where to pause, and so on.
I like it a lot, and I think with a little work, it could go from a decent piece, to an excellent one.
